New to Calne?
A major part of moving home is finding a church that is right for you where God's word is being preached. If you come along to one of Calne Free's service you will be assured of a warm welcome and hear God's word. I'm sure you have many questions about the church and the services we have tried to answer some of these below, please do contact us if you would like to find out more about the church.
Are you considering moving to Calne or have you just moved in? Well it's a great place to live in a really beautiful part of the Wiltshire country side. Calne is really well located with the main train line to London just 10 minutes away, the M4 less than 30 minutes away and a wealth of attractions and amazing sites within a few minutes.
What happens at your services?
Our main services are at 10am and 6pm. While there are specific things we do at special times of the year (like Christmas or Easter), all our services tend to include the following:
-
We sing together a variety of songs, from the contemporary to the traditional
-
We are led in corporate prayer
-
We have a short time for church family announcements
-
We take up a financial offering (this is voluntary for the Christian family as part of the Christian worship - guests are not expected to contribute)
-
Every few weeks, we share Communion
-
We hear the Bible read to us, and then explained in a talk (lasting around 30 minutes)
After the service, there is the chance:
-
to pray in confidence with the pastor
-
to meet others for refreshments
-
find out more details of events and group
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code! The principle is to come as you are! As with everything we do, we always seek to act and live with both acceptance and respect of others (which includes how we dress).
Can I bring my children?
Of course! All ages are always welcome at Calne Free Church. We have a sunday school running during the sunday morning service for children aged between 3 and 11. Older young people are encouraged to stay in the service and sermon-question sheets are provided. All those leading these groups have gone through the necessary Criminal Records Bureau checks.
